Sweet Rose will you ne'er bloom again.
If I had the skill of Hypoerates or Galen
I would put an end to your woes
Or if I had learned the grand art of healing.
Right soon I'd revive my Pale Rose
Or had I Tissots or Arbuthnots skill
Or my understanding to equal my will
I would find out some cordial some blossom or Pill
That would make my Pale Rose bloom again.
Cold saturine mortals may count my strain silly
And laugh at the cause of my woes.
They'll be sending off to the tulip or Lily
To baffle my pain I suppose
They may say what they please while I can spread wing
Round my dropping fair one sad dirges I''ll sing
Till the lone hills and vales with my sorrows will ring.
My Pale Rose will you ne'er bloom again.
The proud foppish fly may caress the mean poppy
The drone bee the Rowan also
While I with my Rose was continually happy
No fly dare approach her you know
