- Old people have a lot of beliefs in regard to the weather, some of which are as follows.
When the sky appears low it is a sign of a snowstorm. In the morning if the sky is red towards the east it is a sign of frost. When there is a pink colour in the sky it is a sign of a thunderstorm. When the sky looks grey it is a sign of rain.
Old people believe in stars as weather prophets. They say that when there is a lot of stars in the sky it is a sign of frost.
Old people believe that when there is a circle round the moon it is a sign of a storm. When the old moon is seen "in the arms of the new moon" it is also a sign of storm.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
