When the rain is from the North it is a sign of good weather.
The South-east wind brings most rain to my district.
When we see the curlew or sea-gulls it is a sign of rain and crows flying low denotes rain also.
When crows fly high it is a sign of good weather.
When the cat sits with her back to the fire it is a sign of bad weather.
When the dog is sleepy and drowsy rain may be expected
When cattle stay near the house storm is not far off. When they go out through the fields and eat grass good weather is at hand.
When rain is near the chimney "puffs" or sends the smoke out through the kitchen. The soot comes tumbling down the chimney also.
When people see the cat scraping the legs of the table or the dog lying near the fire they fear storm.
