  1. On St. Patrick's Day the people have the custom of wearing the shamrock in honour of St. Patrick.
    On St. Brigid's Day the people in some parts of the country make crosses of rushes and put them over the doors in their houses. These crosses are called St. Brigid's Crosses.
    Shrove Tuesday is called Pancake Tuesday because on that day the people eat a lot of pancakes.
    On Good Friday the people go round bare-footed. It is said that if you do this you will not have a cold for the rest of the year.
    On Easter Sunday the people eat a lot of eggs. Some people get up early on Easter Sunday to see the sun dancing.
    On the first of May the people put a stick in the ground and tie bunches of primroses and whitethorn.
