- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Long ago the old people used to make oaten-meal bread with water. When they would be expecting visitors, for a week before that the people would be making oatmeal cakes with milk and butter and they would put a cross on the cake for the ladies as a token of affection and they used to bake them standing against a flat-stool. Long ago when the old people used to be going to a fair they used to toast a couple of farrells of oaten meal bread and put plenty of butter between it and bring it and a bottle of milk to the fair.
