- During the time of the Penal Laws when the people were not allowed to say mass they went outside a wall and it was beside a well and there was a rock outside it also and there was Mass said on the rock and the water was blessed that was in the well and was used at Mass by the priest. And it is said that the Blessed Virgin appeared at it and it is called after her Lady Well.
It is in the townland of Derrydarragh and it is beside the Shannon and it is also near a very big house where a gentleman called Mr. Mayne who lives in Dublin comes from for a few months every Summer. The people honour this well every year from that on from the 15th August to the 8th of September by going and devotion around this holy well and on the 8th September it ends. In the olden times they honoured that day as a great holiday and they used to have stalls selling all sorts of food and they called it the Pattern day.- Bailitheoir
