  1. John Owens was a lame man that used to go about on crutches. He used to teach school in private houses. He was a hedge schoolmaster. His brother came for him and brought him to the County Limerick. He was never seen around here again. He taught in John Hall's house on the canal line. He taught at Torboy. He had his school in Tom Orohoes in Coolnahinch and he used to teach on the Mosstown avenue.
