  1. There are the ruins of an old castle in Clonlonon. It is supposed to be a Danish castle and there is a story told about the Dane who lived there. He went out one day and brought two men with him, to carry a pot of gold, and when they came to a certain place in one of the fields of the castle he told them leave down the pot and to keep going; and not to look back or he would shoot them they did so and the gold is still buried . There are two large rocks getting up out of the earth and people believe that it is the spot where the gold is buried.
