- In this district in the month of July marriages most frequintly take place. The month of October is consdiered unlucky to get married in. It is though unlucky to get married on Monday and Saturday. Matches are not made in my district now, but long ago they were.
Shrovetide was the most popular time for doing so. Matches were often made at fairs. Money is given to the woman who is getting married by the mother. Stocks and good are given to the married couple. On the wedding day people come to greet the married couple. A wedding feast was held in the house. Straw-boys visited the houses sometimes they were dressed in girls clothes. They danced and sang around the house(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
