Potatoes were very much used and cabbage, carrots, parsnips, and cauliflower were eaten in olden times. Porridge is nearly out of fashion now. Some people used to eat early, and some used to eat later and go to bed after their supper.
Certain kinds of food were eaten on special occasions. We do not know on what occasions special food were eaten, except that it was a custom to eat a lot of eggs on Easter Sunday. Tea was used in the district many years ago. Noggins were used instead of cups.
