The teachers remained in the district as long as they lived, and were able to teach. - No hedge schools existed in my district at any time, but there was a school at Drumcree, Delvin in 1830. It was called a "night" school locally. The school was held in the house of the teacher.Mr Murphy taught in the school. He was a native of the place.
