  1. There are potatoes grown in our garden. We grow a half an acre of two sorts every year The names of them are Shamrocks and Kerr's Pinks My father prepare the ground for them. The ground is not manured in any way before it is ploughed. They are sowed in drills. First the ground is ploughed and then it is harrowed to break all the lumps in it. Then the drills are opened with a plough and manure is spread between them. Next the seed is cut into two or three pieces leaving an eye or two in each piece. Then they are dropped between the drills a foot from each other.
