Clonty Duffy Mount Nugent, Co. Cavan.There is a small lake situated near Castlepollard in the County of Westmeath named Lough Lore. It is about a mile in length and a half mile in width.About the year 1860 a man named Larrie Halpin lived near the lake. He was living with his brother Barney. In the winter of that year there was a very hard frost. One night there happened to be a light fall of snow. Larrie usually rose and went out in his sleep so that night also he got up and went down to the lake. There was ice on the lake and(continues on next page)
