Father Paul O'Brien the Irish poet and grammarian was a native of this Parish and was born at Breaky midway between Moybologue and Kilmainhamwood about the middle of the eighteenth century. Faher O'Brien was a Professor of Gaelic in Maynooth College. He wrote a number of Poems in Irish and English but I can only get a couple of verses of one of them ''The fort of Brakey'' which I hereunder give. It is said he died about the year 1820.
    The Fort of Brakey
As I strode out one evening to recreate my mind
Down by the fort of Brakey to rest I was inclined
I heard two lovers talking and the fair one she did say
I pray young man don't tease me from me begone away
I heard my Mama say when she was brisk and young
That young men are deceitful and have a flattering tongue
If any other fair one would chance to fill their eye
Their vows and protestations to you they would deny
Oh! your vain imagination it's false I do protest
It's in your sacred bosom my heart securely rests
Your comely locks are like amber, your teeth are like ivory
From your eyes come glances which quite enchant me
In spite of flattering speechles of her he gained not
