  1. There are many fairy forts in this district, namely, F lood's fort, Robertstown fort, and Cruicetown fort. I live about a mile from a fort, it belongs to a man named Charles Ó Reilly, Kilbeg. There was a man who was working with a brother of Charles Ó Reilly called James Ó Reilly and he sent him to cut bushes which were growing on the side of the fort.
    While he was cutting the bushes a thorn went into his eye and it had to extracted in case it would case danger of death. About a month after that James Ó Reilly dies and his brother took over the land. That is the man who owns it now.
    This is a story connected with it told to me by James Duffy, Ardlonan.
    Once upon time a man was going to a fair of Kells to sell a horse and when he came to the moat of Kilbeg he met a man who asked him where was he going, so he told his story. Then the man bid for the horse and he bought the horse from the man who was going to the fair of Kells.
