- Some time ago the hall in Mullagh, Co. Cavan, was destroyed. One night when the pictures were in it some man lighted a match and it fell into a machine that works and was working at the time. The machine started to blaze and all the people in the hall had to jump out on windows or anyplace else that they could. No one was able to stop the fire. Some peoples coats and hats or caps were all burned and could not be got. People who tried to put out the fire were nearly burned themselves. All the money that was gathered that night was lost. It was supposed to be burned in the year 1921, a few years after the war. There is a track around the old place still and there is a large stone behind it.
