But there was more to it than that for whoever was first was the one that got the most food and drink.
- In the penal times priests often said. Mass in private houses, as for instance, in Reillys of Oakley Park; that was over 150 years ago when they dared not go to a church.
Captain Merlico used to gave permission on the sly to have Mass celebrated at Reillys in Maperath. - As rocks are very scarce round Kells there seems to be no Mass Rock at all in the district.
But there are Mass Paths here and there through bogs near Carnaross and Moynalty.
