  1. Daniel O'Connell came to Kells twice. On one of these two occasions when he was passing along he laid his hand on the head of a little girl named Alanna Smith. Anna afterwards became Mrs McGillick, and the mother of Mrs Molloy of Dulane, now 69. Anna saw her seven generations of women before she died.

    It was supposed that whoever took water first from a common well on May morning took at the same time the butter from all the people's churns who used that same well.
