  1. The people liked to begin the spring ploughing on a Friday. They planted an "early pot" on Friday. They began the sowing of oats on the same day and they liked to put in the first pieces of furniture on a Friday when flitting. It was said that when the bud comes on the ash it was too late to plant potatoes. Potatoes were not planted until after St. Patrick's Day except for a little "gallyog" put in on the 16th March called "Patricks pot". The "early pot" or early varieties were always dug before the 29th June.
