    The Local Fairs.
    The Local Fairs are held in Rathmolyon, Summerhill, Trim and Longwood.
    Buyers still transact business at farmhouses but not at crossroads.
    The fairs at Bective have been discontinued for want of local support.
    The town fairs are often held in the streets and sometimes in fair green. Long ago when Rathmolyon fair was held in a fair gree, toll was paid to the owner of the fair green.
    It is the custom to give luck-money to the owner of the animals. It is called a "Luck Penny".
    When a bargain is made the people show their agreement by striking hands or by spitting.
    Animals re marked by cutting the owners private mark on it with a scissors or a raddle.
    When a bull or hold horse are sold the halter is given away.
    The greatest horse fairs of the year are Longwood, and Summerhill.
