  1. About fifty years ago a man named John Walsh went to work in America. He worked there until he was about 28 years of age and one night he dreamt that if he went back to Ireland and went to Bective Abbey, he would find a chest of gold. He saw in his dream the three men that were to go with him, but there was to be a life lost. He came home and told the men about his strange dream. Two of them decided to go with him, but the other would not risk it.
They were told by a very old woman that if they had taken a dog or a cat and threw it into the hole, it would have saved the life of one of the men and they could have got the gold. The men are dead now but the gold still remains in Bective Abbey.
