- About 50 years ago each side of the road in Johnstown was lined with houses.
A man called Dignan kept a saw mills in the neighbourhood. The owners got broken and the whole thing fell through. The workers left and the old cottages were cleared away.
Mrs Oakes remembers 60 young unmarried people living in Johnstown.
The sites of the houses can still be pointed out.
- About 200 yds from the school there is a stone now almost covered which was supposed to be thrown by Fionn Mac Cumail from Tara Hill at somebody on Slane Hill.
The story goes that the stone slipped and fell. Passers by are supposed to throw a pebble at it for luck.
