- At White Cross there is a cross just at the back wall of a house: the cross was put up in memory of George Taaffe.
He owned all the land around this part of the country.
It is said that there is a man buried under the cross and that his ghost is in one of Miss Conlons houses in Artoney. Some people say it is not true, that it was only put up in memory of Mr Taaffe who lived in Rathneely. It is said that when the hearse was going past, the horses stood and would not go on.
