The townland derives its name from a mound 400 yards from the school called the "cnoc na cruinn". This mound is Dumhlearghaidh which means Largy's mound. According to tradition the chieftain Largy was ruler of this district and his remains which were probably cremated were in-urned under this mound. A chamber is supposed to exist under the mound but there is no visible entrance. A depression which I noticed on the top would indicate that some portion of the internal structure is giving way. A cave is said to lead from the Dulargy small road to the hill. An old man of about 80 yrs told me he saw the opening and it was closed owing to animals roaming into it.
The hill is about 60 yards in diameter and is raised considerably above the road. Portion of it is now in the calvery cemetery and a "Calvery" has been erected on the top.
