  1. There was a farmer near Spanish Point in West Clare who sowed a field of corn. Every morning he noticed that some of the corn was eaten. One night he stayed watching and he saw a mare and a foal coming in from the sea. He tried to catch them but they were too fast.
    The next night he gathered a crowd of people. The mare and foal came. They tried to catch them. They caught the foal but the mare ran away.
    The farmer sold the foal to a man named Stack-pool. He became one of the swiftest horses in the place.
    There were two brothers of the Fitzgerald family living near Stackpool. One of them was
