“There is a graveyard called Teampall na Deirce in this parish.”
There is a graveyard called Teampall na Deirce in this parish. There are the remains of an old church in the graveyard. The old people say it was a Franciscan church and that it was burned by the English long ago. They say that one of the Friars was hanged there.There is a little well near the graveyard. It is like a basin cut into the rock. It is about ten inches deep and it never runs dry. You cannot see where the water comes from or where it goes. The water is said to be a cure for sore eyes. The people do not drink the water and there is a wall around the well to keep off the cattle. Everyone that uses the water leaves something at the well.
