- There are the remains of a very old monastery in this district. It is situated at Newhall about a mile from the village and is known as St. John's. The old Abbey is used nowadays as a cemetry and many of the residents of the parish are buried there.
Beside the Abbey there is a Blessed Well, and many cures and favours, are attributed to the influence of the patron saint(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile) - Bailitheoir
