There was one clever old woman who saw how well her neighbours were getting on at taking the £1. So she said she would try the plan on her own customers. She went to her customers, some of them refused to give her the £1 and said they would pay for the butter according as they'd get it. A few times is all she went to the people who did pay the £1, but she kept going to the peope who didn't until they would get the butter. So she left them without their pounds.
