Tom Leahy used grind flour during the war times. The people used supply him with wheat and he used grind it. It was not really white but it was the next best stuff to the ordinary flour. Potatoe cakes were eaten for the afternoon tea. First a few boiled potatoes were got and mixed with a quantity of flour. Next they were cut into squares and baked.
