  1. Some years ago there was a forge in Ballinakill. The name of it was Doherty's forge, the Blacksmith was James Doherty.
    The forge was situated near the four roads leading to Tara, on the road to Rathnaveague graveyard.
    The Forge is fairly big, has one window and two doors and it has a Galavanize roof, the doors had no special shape , there was only one fireplace.
    The bellows were made timber and leather. They were not made locally.
    The Smith shoes horses and asses.
    The Implements the Smith uses are hammers, Chisels, Vice, Punch, Drill, and hacksaws.
