- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)When the smith saw who he was he locked the door and put down a horseshoe in the fire to redden. When it was red he faced the devil with it and told him to give him back all his money. The devil did so, but the Blacksmith made him promise that he would never enter a house where there is a horseshoe nailed on the door. So that is the reason why there is always a horseshoe nailed on the door of the forge and in houses where people live.
