  1. The harmful weeds that grow on our farm are the rag-wort and thistle. Those are harmful because they smother up the land.
Other herbs are the fern, blackberries and dandelion. The fern grows bad land.
The rag-wort is good for rheumatism. Dandelion is useful for kidney disorders. The blackberry is a very useful tonic.
Before using, the herbs should be boiled. Then the person should drink the juice which remains.
Yarrow is a cure for rheumatism. Horse-chestnut is a cure for bronchitis. The leaves of this tree are to be boiled. The juice is then drunk. Chicken-weed is a cure for warts.
People say one should eat three meals of nettles every spring to keep away sickness for the year.
There is a tree called Laburnum which is deadly poison. This tree spreads very quickly because the seeds fall and grow more trees.
