It stands on an isthmus.The drawbridge was built of huge stones.
A large heavy door stood at the end of the drawbridge. This door was evidently made of thick timber and the stones which formerly held the posts of the door are still to be seen there. The arch over the door was lined with mortar on which the traces of wicker-work may be seen.
Right inside this door was the "Warriors' Quarters".Inside this was a very large courtyard in the walls of which at fixed distances where portholes or loop-holes for the defence of the Castle.
It was surely a strong fortress and was evidently only captured when it was betrayed.-
The walls of the Castle were from 7 to 8 feet thick and it length was 24 feet and its breath 13 feet and its height about 35 feet.
