    capturing the centre strong-hold where the defenders lived. Thses were the form of strongholds or fortifications and ancient Irish had before the advent of castles.
    Moats or forts are very sacred and few people like to interfere with them even to cut a tree or a twig growing on them. It is said that large sums of gold were hidden in these moats and was guarded by the living in the past and now by the spirits of the dead. The following is a true storey told about the fort which is on top of Knockainey hill. It was in the Winter time about one hundred years ago a big fall of stow lay on
