    Twas like an eagle in the sky when the eagle began to roar...

    Leo of Anhid has this rhyme also. It is identical with Miss Finnerty's version up to a 'point', and there goes off on another route: Here is Ms. (?) version: from the 'point' :- x x x
    ('Twas) like an eagle in the sky.
    When the eagle began to roar.
    ('Twas) like a ship upon the shore.
    When the ship began to sail.
    ('Twas) like a bottle full of ale.
    When the ale began to drink.
    ('Twas)like a bottle full of ink.
    When the ink began to write.
    Like a young man and fair lady bride".
    Note: In this and the other version. I have unwittingly put in 'twas, before every comparison. I now observe that in the oral version 'twas is never used. D.C.
