Ar an leathanach seo

  1. There is a fort by the name of Rath Siotha near the southwestern corner of this parish, but actually in the parish of Meelin. It is situated in Reinahown by the banks of the Glashawee. One night Jerh Sheedy was looking for a horse which had strayed. He saw the horse at the far side of the fort and went to get it. As he was passing the fort what did he see but a number of little chaps wearing red caps. He ran towards the horse, but the horse got frightened and raced off across the mountain, and left poor Jerh standing there alone. He was greatly frightened. He ran as fast as his legs could carry him, with the fairies in full chase after him. He did not know what to do. Sometimes he paused to take a breath, then ran on again. At last he reached the road and was so glad.
    It seems the fairies were compelled to stop when they reached the river, but Jer imagined they were after him all the time.
    He reached home at last and threw himself on his bed, where he remained for mostly
