When the woman of the house wanted to make a candle all she had to do was melt fat of sheep, she had a tin mould ready she put a piece of thin cord into the mould, poured the melted fat into it, let it set and harden.
There is a certain rush growing in the fields which was also used as light. That rush was peeled. The pith of the rush was put into the tin mould.
