and he lit his pipe. Not long after he saw a crowd of small people dancing. He fell into a kind of stupor and he took up his fiddle and began to play. When the dance was over he stopped playing. The fairies praised his music very much and gave him a crock of gold. One of the fairies who seemed to be the ruler came with a wand and struck the hump. It immediately disappeared and the fairies vanished. He went on his way delighted. He told the story to many people.

  2. Some time ago farmers in this neighbourhood used to take their corn to Limerick to sell it. On account of the long journey the farmers had to arise early in the morning, some times even before midnight on the time when they were going. This time a farmer by the name of Miller Protestant arose early and went on his journey. Just as he was coming near Adare, his two sisters who had been dead for sixteen years, appeared to him. They were dressed in white and they seemed to be angels to him. After a while they disappeared and he again continued his journey uninterrupted.
