- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)were all the vegetables they ate in those days. On Easter Sunday eggs were eaten and they would not see an egg till Easter Sunday again.
People hated tea in those days and used it only once a day. They had no such vessels as cups in those days but timber mugs which were called piggins. When people long ago had no bread they used to go out in the morning and bring in rye and make bread with it. There was no soda only water in it.
When the woman of the house found herself short of flour she went out in the field where the rye was growing and cut a bundle of it. Then she brought it in and ground it in the quern. From the meal she made bread.- Bailitheoir
