On one of his last performances, he had a little argument with an advanced pupil of his, named William Cummane. William had learned every dance from him, except one, which the latter did not want to show him.
After much coaxing, however, he consented, and said, that if William could do the step after him, he would give him his violen and give up dancing. "Dicky" did the step once and although it was terrible difficult William performed the step exactly after him. Dicky, true to his, handed him the violen, and that finished his dancing career.
