  1. Old Crafts
    In former times brick was made in Clounleharde but is not made there at present. At the top of Clounleharde there is a small town called Brick town. It got this name because the few houses that are in it are made of brick which was made in Clounleharde. Several of the farmers' houses in Clounleharde are also made of bricks. A few years ago people tried to make bricks there again but they did not succeed.
    They also made baskets out of twigs some years ago. These baskets were very useful for many things.
    The old Irish spinning wheel was very useful to the women. They made all their own thread with it.
    The women used to make starch out of the juice of potatoes. They grated many potatoes collecting their juice onto a separate vessel. From it they made a supply of starch. Over centuries ago there were bricks made in Clounleharde which were used for building material. These houses are now called brick houses and even at the present day they are as good as any houses in the parish. Butter was formerly made in all the farmers' houses in this parish by means of churns. Formerly light was made by the old inhabitants of this parish by means of white stuff which was found inside big rushes. This white stuff was moulded together and shaped like a candle that is made at the present day. It is a commonly rumoured legend that whisky was distilled in a minature scale in whisky hall.
