    boys gather - dress themselves up in old clothes belonging to adults blacken their faces or wear "face and eyes" (masks) and decorate a holly bush with ribbons or coloured paper streamers.
    Then they go round from house to house Singing "The Wran" and asking for "A penny for the wran". They divide the money they collect.
