- There are two forges in Milford.
Mr. William Kelly & Mr. Patrick Fox are the smiths.
Mr. Wm. Kelly's father & grandfather were smiths.
Mr. Patk. Fox's father & grandfather were smiths also.
The two forges are in Milford village (Ráth Luirc).
Both are about 20 yds. from the river Deel.Kelly's forge: The roof is of timber & zinc.
The door is not of any special shape.
Fireplaces - two - raised over the ground
Bellows - 2 -
Made of - One is made of leather, & the other is made of iron (except the belt or band).
Implements - Hammer, pincers, sledge, anvil, tongs, bellows, punch brace, poker, rasp knife.
* Mr. Kelly bought the leather bellows in Cork. He made the iron one.Fox's forge: The roof is of slate.
The door is not of any special shape.
Fireplaces - 2 - raised above the floor,

Made of - One of iron, with a leather belt & the other is made of leather.
Implements - see above.
* He made the iron bellows & bought the leather one in Cork.Both smiths shoe horses & asses. They do not shoe cattle.
They repair farm implements but do not make them.
They band wheels in the open air, near the forges.
Kelly is a very strong man.
