  1. Old Schools
    About a hundred year ago there was a schoolmaster by the name of Mr. Croke. He and his wife lived together in a small house in Smith's Lane Charleville where at present. Mr Morrisey have erected a flour and meal store.
    The pupils at that time were taught a kind of Irish what we at the present day call old Irish. The girls and boys at that time were big when starting to go to school. Some of them had come to the age of twelve and thirteen years
