  1. In olden times Charleville was one of the best Southern towns for home industry. There were candle makers, weavers, coopers, basket makers, thatchers, tanyards, dyers, lime kilns.
    In the Southern end of the town candle and soap makers combined. They used to buy old horses and cattle. Then they killed them and afterwards boiled down the flesh and from the fat made soap and candles in a crude way.
