    The first thing they had to do in the morning when they went in was to start the fire, while some one of the others had to feed the pigs, Another one had to go for a bucket of water. The master used to smoke a chalk pipe and one of the pupils had to fill and light the pipe for him. He always addressed them as "Jackeen" or "Mickeen" according to their names But in the mean time he taught them to love God and to obey the teaching of the Church.
