- You Irish men the world o'er,
I hope you will attend,
Until I relate a story,
With a truly tragic end.
'Tis of a patriot John Twiss,
The bravest of the brave,
Who sleeps within the prison walls,
Of a dark and lonesome grave.

The story is a sad one,
A heroic man struck down.
By blood-money and perjury,
Of a harsh and reckless crown.
They singled out their victims,
And they said "This man must die",
If perjury will do it,
He will mount the gallows high.

And brought him to Newmarket,
Where his trial straight came on.
They lost no opportunity to make
him change his coat,(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
