    Patrol Terraces
In triple-fence forts Professor Macalister says that sometimes the central rampart is broader than the others and a sunk causeway is constructed on its summit surrounding the entire enclosure. This is clearly a standing ground for the defenders, as they endeavour to repel the attacking force. In the fort in Lios-Na-Buidhe Upper, jointly owned by Tim Sullivan and Maurice Kerins, though there are only two ramparts there is such a platform inside the inner one. The local belief is that the terrace was used for drilling.
