- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Basket weaving was also a former occupation. Twigs were woven into a basket then it was placed in a pot of water and boiled this caused the bark to peel off the twigs and leave the basket light colour. These were baskets used for shopping and marketing.
There were other baskets called "ciseógs" and the twigs were the ordinary colour - these were used to bring turf into the house from the pick or to pick potatoes. (illustration of a ciseóg)
