- Long ago the kind of beds the old people used to have were made of timber.
Those beds had covers over them and were called taster beds. They had no matresses but feathers and straw crushed up so as that it would not hurt them, and were also covered with bags but those bags were washed and bleached very white and were changed often in the year they used keep some of the straw for it. Those beds had timber frames they had no springs but timber laths across for to keep them up. The sheets were made of their own bleached linen and the blankets(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
